SESSION DESCRIPTION
Few people know the history behind the rise of the Catholic monarchs of Iberia (Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Southern France) that led to Columbus sailing the ocean blue in 1492. And even fewer would ever guess that this pivotal moment in history - 1492 - was preceded by Black Muslim Moors ruling Iberia. This session focuses on the 700+ years of Iberia's Golden Age through Moorish rule; and the 'reconquista' that shifted the power dynamics from Africans ruling Europeans, to being enslaved by them.
